Family Sunday “Birds in Flight”

Make a flock of folk art birds using Styrofoam, craft paper, and paint!  A tour of the Gallery’s  “Birds in Flight” exhibit will give children and parents some  great ideas for creating  their  own feathered friends. Suitable for ages 5 to 12. Admission 3.00 per child, please register by calling 749-2248. A parent and/or caregiver must accompany each child.

Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon designing and painting rain sticks that will form part of the Gallery’s musical instrument collection. Join in a musical circle with everyone having the opportunity to play the rain sticks along with other percussion instruments.

 Admission 3.00 per child, please register.
Suggested for children and youth on the autism spectrum

Ages 10 and up. A parent and/or caregiver must accompany each child

 No Experience Necessary!

Creative Minds Series
 
With Playwright Hal Theriault’s “Sharing Heritage through Theatre”.
A creative mind is an asset in many occupations. Through our Creative Minds presentations, we will hear from people in our community who have interesting artistic passions.
 
Hal started life as a teacher and after 18 years wanted to entertain through theatre, and while teaching he was involved in drama and writing plays. He studied drama and theatre at Acadia University, Queen Mary College, and University of London, England. Hal also did some acting in England.
Hal also started his own company, Basin Productions, and worked in schools universities as well as prisons presenting plays dealing with racism, conflict resolution, etc.
Hal has also written and performed full-length plays, dinner theatre, and spent five summers with
his company performing on the M. V. Bluenose.
Hal has settled back home in Digby, enjoying his new puppy and is very much involved with the Digby Area Theatre Society. Hal accepts commissions and writes plays for various communities and groups. Quote: “I think it is vital for communities to preserve and present their heritage.”

 Maud-ify a “found piece”. Decorate/paint found items in the style and spirit of Maud Lewis. Have fun learning about Maud Lewis and how she transformed fbreadboxound items into pieces of art. Now it’s your chance to “Maud-ify” your own piece of artwork using bright beautiful colours.
